Highlights of the May 2022 Skysail Maritime Technology Landscape:
Veson Nautical secured a significant growth investment from Francisco Partners five years after taking in private equity from Pamlico Capital. Shortly thereafter Veson announced an acquisition of Q88, consolidating its position in the voyage management system market and adding a strong product portfolio and software team to the organization.
KPLER raised over $200 million in growth capital from Five Arrows and Insight Partners. In parallel the company expanded further by acquiring JBC Energy, a data & analytic business specialized in energy and commodities. This follows on its acquisition of ClipperData in September 2021.
Marcura secured growth equity capital from Marlin Equity Partners to accelerate its product expansion.
essDOCS was acquired by ICE to accelerate development plans for its vision of paperless global trade management.
Nautilus Labs raised a $34 million Series B led by M12 Ventures, while ShipsKart secured a $2.7 million Series A led by TMV, also an early investor in Nautilus.
Other notable raises include seed rounds by two Boston-based companies, predictive maritime platform FreightFlows and visual fleet management platform ShipIn Systems.
